|Dive No. 824/825 - Munsom Bay - mostly cloudy - air 25C - water 21C - visibility 10m
First dive to 27m, second dive to 25m, stillwater at low tide on the second dive. Became a calm and very relaxed dive.
Saw 2 cleaner shrimps (Stenopus hispidus) in the coral on the wall to the east and 2 more at the "cleaner station" just at the corner of the wall and bay entry. This species seems to live in pairs of two, I have rarely seen a single and never a group of more than 2 in the same place. The male is smaller than the female. These sat under the rock with their white antennas pointing to the outside trying to invite their clients in. What I usually see of them first are just the 2 white antennas, they catch my attention, out of curiosity I go closer and want to see what it is. I guess that is pretty much what these beauties intend....
Found a large scorpionfish of 40 cm lying on a rock and a white lionfish swiming along the wall between orange soft coral. Visited the sea anemones and spoted only one of the two clownfish but it was shy and hiding under a stone. Other spotings: Flower gobies, a number of baby lionfish, juvenile stripeys and sergent majors, target fish, schools of damselfish and horse mackerel....
The water seems to get warmer quite fast now. I am going to check out the 5 mm suit tomorrow.
Safe and enjoyable dives
