|Dear divers and friends of BIG BLUE 33,
I wish you, your families and friends a wonderful and happy new year with lots of exciting dives to come. Thank you for diving with me and my team in 2004 and helping us to build a quality dive center here on Jeju Island.
The year 2004 brought many changes to our dive center, the greatest certainly being our new dive boat the BLUE STAR. The Blue Star gives us the opportunity to stay away from the crowds and dive our own spot whenever we want. This is a service no other dive shop can offer.
In September three photografers from the 3 leading German dive magazines visited us at BIG BLUE 33 to take pictures and collect information on diving in Jeju. Wolfgang Poelzer`s article in the December edition of "tauchen" magazine came out really well. I hope that many divers read it and get interested in our unique underwater world which he called an 'interesting mix of Norway and the Red Sea - the black rocks and the kelp like in Norway and the colorful soft coral and tropical fish like in the Red Sea'.
I also took the next step in my own diving education and completed a NAUI Staff Training Workshop and a NAUI Instructor Trainer Workshop with NAUI Course Director CJ Phillips in December. We trained two NAUI Instructor candidates at BIG BLUE 33. It was a very interesting experience and I think I want to work more in the field of instructor training. A NAUI Instructor Trainer can conduct the complete NAUI Instructor Training Program and only for the evaluation a NAUI Course Director has to be in residence. I think there are some interesting opportunities in this.
I will fly to Germany in a few days and represent Jeju and its diving opportunities on the BOOT 2005 in Duesseldorf, the biggest watersports show in Europe. If you happen to be there, please visit Thorsten and me at the Jeju booth No. B 11 in hall 3 from January 15th to 23rd.
BIG BLUE 33 will be closed from January 6th to Febuary 6th 2005. I hope to see many of you back for diving Jeju in the coming season which we will open with a few dives in the Munsom kelp forest during the Korean/Chinese New Year holiday from Febuary 8th to 10th.
Happy New Year and safe diving
P.S. I met this John Dory or Petersfish yesterday at Little Munsom in -18m. Isn`t he a real character?
